Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking Process

How we research, verify, and correct what we publish
Verified before publish

Our standard

Societal Echoes covers society, culture, psychology, and health — subjects where getting it wrong has real consequences for readers. Every factual claim is checked against a primary or expert source before it goes live, whether the piece is written in English or Malayalam.

Our interactive tools — the Mind Check, Attachment Style Test, and Lifestyle Diseases guide among them — are built on validated clinical instruments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PSS-4, and the ECR framework), not improvised scoring. We name the instrument behind every tool so readers can verify it independently.

The verification trail

01

Sourcing

Health and psychology claims are traced to peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, or recognized institutions — never to secondary blogs or aggregators.

02

Instrument fidelity

Where a piece uses a psychological or medical framework, the original questions, scoring, and cutoffs are preserved. Adaptations are disclosed, not silent.

03

Bilingual check

Malayalam translations are reviewed for meaning, not just word-for-word accuracy — a mistranslated symptom or statistic is treated as seriously as a wrong English fact.

04

Pre-publish review

Before anything goes live, claims are re-read against their sources one more time. If a source can’t be verified, the claim is cut or clearly labeled as opinion.

What we won’t do

We don’t present anecdote as data, diagnosis as fact, or a single study as consensus. Our self-assessment tools are explicitly framed as screening aids, not diagnostic instruments — every health-related tool links to when and how to seek a licensed professional.

Corrections

POLICY — When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Corrected articles carry a visible note stating what changed and when. We don’t quietly edit factual errors out of published pieces.
